Apple TV+ horror‑comedy 'Widow's Bay' renewed for second season

Apple TV+’s comedic‑horror series 'Widow's Bay' has been officially renewed for a second season. The first season, set on the isolated New England island of Widow’s Bay, earned 97 % positive critic reviews and 93 % audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes, with the BBC describing it as “unsettling” and Variety praising its blend of fear and humor. Critics have likened it to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, and Guillermo del Toro called it “pure gold.”

Showrunner Katie Dippold confirmed that the renewal will retain the core cast—including Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis, Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kevin Carroll and Dale Dickey—while director Hiro Murai returns to helm new episodes. No premiere date has been set, but production timelines suggest the next season will arrive at least a year and a half after the first.
