Apple TV+ renews horror‑comedy Widow's Bay for a second season amid Emmy buzz

Apple TV+ has officially green‑lit a second season of the horror‑comedy series Widow's Bay, with creator Katie Dippold signing an overall development deal with the streamer. The renewal was announced on 11 June 2026, shortly before the finale of the first season, which premiered on 29 April 2026 and ran weekly through 17 June 2026. Production for Season 2 is expected to begin later this year, with a projected release in late 2027 or early 2028.

The show, starring Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis, has attracted strong critical praise. The Guardian’s Rebecca Shaw called it “the best thing in the world” amid a “remake‑riddled landscape,” while Forbes and the New Yorker highlighted its blend of humor and terror. The series earned five Television Critics Association nominations and is widely tipped as an early Emmy contender, with Rhys expected to be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
