Apple TV+ schedules Jessica Chastain thriller ‘The Savant’ for 2027

Apple TV+ has rescheduled the release of the Jessica Chastain-led thriller ‘The Savant’ for spring 2027. The eight-episode limited series was abruptly pulled from the streaming service’s schedule in September 2025, just three days before its planned premiere.

The original delay followed the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Industry reports suggest Apple postponed the release due to the series’ sensitive subject matter—involving undercover investigators infiltrating online hate groups—and violent imagery, such as sniper attacks, which were deemed potentially triggering given the political climate at the time.

Jessica Chastain, who stars in and executive produces the series, expressed public disagreement with the decision to postpone the launch, stating she was ‘not aligned’ with the move. The new spring 2027 window is strategically timed to ensure the series is eligible for the 2027 Emmy Awards.
