Apple TV+ series 'Sugar' season 2 hailed by viewers

Apple TV+ released the second season of the neo‑noir thriller Sugar on 19 June, with new episodes scheduled weekly through 7 August. Colin Farrell returns as private investigator John Sugar, who continues his search for his missing sister while taking on a new case involving the troubled older brother of an emerging boxer. The season adds several new cast members—Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly and Sasha Calle—with Shea Whigham appearing as a guest star.

The launch generated a strong positive response on social media. Viewers described the show as “completely confused, completely absorbed, completely entertained” and called it “one of the best series ever.” Critics also responded favorably; The Guardian awarded three stars, calling the new episodes “misty, melancholy‑laden, and urbanly beautiful,” while the Los Angeles Times called the season “new and improved,” noting sharper cinematography and a successful blend of sci‑fi intrigue with classic detective tension.
