Apple TV sets premiere date for Awkwafina culinary docuseries

Apple TV has announced the release date for the eight-episode docuseries ‘Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook’, set to premiere on November 6. The series follows actress and comedian Nora Lum, known professionally as Awkwafina, as she attempts to revive her family’s historic Cantonese restaurant, Lum’s, located in Flushing, New York.

Despite inheriting the family legacy, Lum admits to having virtually no culinary skills. To prepare for the reopening, she travels across the United States to undergo training at the Culinary Institute of America and learns from various culinary experts, including Roy Choi and Martin Yan. Her journey includes exploring American barbecue in Texas with Jimmy O. Yang and studying tiki culture in Hawaii. The series culminates in the reopening of Lum’s, where she faces her most demanding critic: her own grandmother.
