Apple TV's 'Widow Bay' and Warner Bros.' 'Evil Dead Burn' earn critical acclaim

Apple TV’s new series “Widow Bay” (original title “Wdowia Zatoka”) has been praised for blending horror, comedy and family drama on a fictional U.S. island. Critics highlighted its originality, atmosphere and performances, especially Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis. The show received a record 19 Emmy nominations, including Best Comedy Series, directing, writing and acting categories. Creator Katie Dippold, known for “Parks and Recreation,” serves as showrunner.

Warner Bros.’ horror film “Evil Dead Burn” (Polish title “Martwe zło: Ogień”) opened on 10 July 2026. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček and starring Souheila Yacoub and others, the movie earned a 79 % positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, praised for its brutal violence, intense atmosphere and dark humor. Reviewers noted a simple plot but lauded the film as one of the most graphic entries in the franchise.
