Apple TV's 'Widow's Bay' Secures Season 2 After Emmy‑Nominated Debut

Creator Katie Dippold spoke at the San Diego Comic‑Con panel for Apple TV, noting that the character Wyck, played by Stephen Root, was not in the original pilot script. She highlighted the show’s rapid rise, accruing 19 Emmy nominations—including Best Comedy Series—following its April launch.

Dippold announced that the series has been renewed for a second season, with writing already underway. She said the first‑season experience taught her to trim excess material, focusing on tighter comedy‑horror storytelling. The series stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, Kingston Rumi Southwick and Stephen Root, and will begin filming next year.
