Apple TV’s ‘Widow’s Bay’ Showcases New England Coastal Towns as Filming Backdrop

Apple TV’s horror‑comedy series ‘Widow’s Bay’ blends spooky folklore with humor. The show stars Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis and Kate O’Flynn as his aide Patricia. Created by Katie Dippold, it follows the cursed New England‑style island’s attempts to attract tourists while supernatural events unfold.

The fictitious town was filmed on location across Massachusetts’ North Shore. Production used real harbors and historic streets in Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, Berlin and Maynard, with specific sites such as Rockport’s Bearskin Neck peninsula, White Wharf and Lane’s Cove featured prominently. The mix of real scenery and visual effects gives the series its atmospheric, fog‑filled look and has prompted fans to visit the actual coastal communities.
