Apple unveils iOS 27 Beta 2 with on‑device Call Context and Siri web‑content limits

Apple’s iOS 27 developer beta 2 adds a new on‑device AI feature called “Call Context”. During a phone call the system surfaces relevant details from emails, messages and notes that are already stored on the iPhone, without analyzing the live audio. The feature is intended to speed up business calls by presenting booking numbers, reservation details or confirmation codes without leaving the call UI. The beta, build 24A5370h, will be followed by a public beta in July and a final release slated for September alongside the iPhone 18.

In the same beta Apple introduces a restriction for Siri: the assistant is now explicitly prohibited from reading, summarising or extracting content from URLs supplied by users. Siri must inform the user that such access is not allowed and cannot suggest work‑arounds. The change appears aimed at protecting website operators and limiting traffic diversion. Both the Call Context and the Siri limitation run locally on the device; extended Siri functions remain disabled in the EU and China.

Apple also rolls out a new “Write with Siri” model with roughly 3 billion parameters and expands inline replies in the Messages app, but the headline changes are the on‑device Call Context and the Siri URL‑access block.
