Apple unveils iPhone Duo foldable smartphone

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the announcement of the iPhone Duo. The device features a dual-screen design, including a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Both panels support ProMotion and reach up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. The phone is powered by the A20 Pro chip and utilizes a titanium frame with a dual-battery architecture.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are scheduled to begin on October 16, 2026, across more than 70 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, China, Germany, France, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The official retail release is set for October 23, 2026. In the United States, the device is expected to start at 1,999 US dollars.

The iPhone Duo will launch with iOS 27.1, which includes software optimizations specifically designed for the foldable form factor, such as iPad-inspired multitasking that allows two applications to run side-by-side on the inner screen. While the device supports Apple Pencil, it will use the USB-C version rather than the Apple Pencil Pro. The announcement has also sparked competitive social media engagement from rivals like Samsung.
