Apple plans iPhone Air 2 with dual cameras and longer battery for spring 2027

Apple is developing a second‑generation iPhone Air, often referred to as iPhone Air 2, scheduled for launch in spring 2027. The new model will keep the original thin form factor while adding an ultra‑wide secondary rear camera to address the current device’s single‑camera limitation.

Battery life is also set to improve. Apple is expected to achieve longer endurance through software optimisation and the inclusion of the A20 Pro processor, the same chip that will power the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro line. The device will retain its slim design rather than increase physical battery size.

The rollout aligns with Apple’s broader roadmap, which sees the basic iPhone 18 released later in 2027 and a transition to more advanced 1.4 nm‑based A22 Pro chips beginning in 2028. These developments are part of Apple’s push toward on‑device AI capabilities and higher performance while maintaining competitive pricing.
