Apple updates iOS tracking transparency interface in France

Apple is updating the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) interface for iPhone users in France as part of iOS 27.2. This change follows regulatory scrutiny and fines totaling hundreds of millions of euros in France and Italy.

The new interface will transition to a full-screen prompt that removes the specific term ‘tracking’ in favor of simplified language, offering users the choice to ‘Allow’ or ‘Reject’. Unlike previous versions, this prompt may reappear annually even if a user has previously declined permission.

While most European Union countries will have the option to choose between the old window and this new alternative version, Apple has stated that in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania, only the new version will be available due to specific legal requirements and agreements with European competition authorities.
