Apple updates iPhone lineup with iPhone 18 Pro Max and price adjustments
Apple is implementing significant changes to its smartphone lineup, including a shift in product nomenclature and pricing. Following an event in September 2026, the company transitioned from the iPhone 17 Pro Max to the iPhone 18 Pro Max, effectively removing the previous generation from its official professional offering.
In conjunction with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, Apple has adjusted the pricing for several existing models. The starting prices for the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17e have each increased by $100. Specifically, the iPhone 17 is now priced at $899, the iPhone Air at $1,099, the iPhone 16 at $799, and the iPhone 17e at $699.
To commemorate the anniversary of the iPhone, reports suggest Apple is planning a major redesign for its high-end devices. Potential technical advancements include curved screens on all four edges, minimal front-facing perforations to maximize display space, and invisible under-panel biometric sensors. The company is also exploring ultra-lightweight materials, such as ceramic finishes and advanced metal alloys, to improve ergonomics and thermal management.
