Apple releases public betas for iOS 27.2 and macOS Golden Gate
Apple has released the first public betas for its 27.2 software suite, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS Golden Gate, tvOS, and watchOS. These updates follow the major release of version 27 earlier this month.
A primary focus of the 27.2 update is the expansion of Siri AI, which now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The macOS and iOS updates also feature a redesigned Health app with new Insights and Longevity tabs, as well as a Health Age metric.
Other notable features include enhanced parental controls in iPadOS and iOS, such as redesigned Screen Time and website request permissions in Safari. In tvOS, beta testing reveals the ability to connect an Apple TV 4K to four HomePods wirelessly, though full surround sound channel assignment is still being refined. macOS users will notice a redesigned volume and brightness interface with segmented bars.
Additionally, the updates introduce new privacy and utility features, such as potential anti-theft mechanisms in iOS and expanded App Tracking Transparency prompts for users in the European Union. Users have also reported some battery life challenges following the macOS Golden Gate installation.
