Apple updates Shortcuts app and iPadOS 27 firmware

Apple has expanded the capabilities of its Shortcuts application across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. A major highlight of this update is the ‘Use Model’ command, which allows users to leverage enhanced Apple Intelligence models and access real-time information via the internet.

The update introduces over 35 new and improved actions. Key enhancements include advanced automation triggers for notifications, keyboard connections, and screenshots. New operations have been added for Messages, Reminders, VPN management, and Photos. Additionally, the Shortcuts editor now supports natural language descriptions for creating shortcuts and can automatically generate summaries of existing shortcuts using Apple Intelligence.

For users performing manual system restores or updates, official iPadOS 27 IPSW firmware files are available for various iPad models. These full system installation files are intended for use via Mac Finder or Windows to resolve boot issues or update failures when standard over-the-air updates are not used.
