Apple warns of iPhone shortages amid record demand and supply‑chain strain

Chief executive Tim Cook told investors that soaring consumer demand for iPhones – up about 22% year‑on‑year and generating $54.2 billion in revenue – is meeting a tightening global supply chain. Apple faces difficulty securing key components as semiconductor manufacturers shift capacity toward AI‑focused servers, raising the risk that iPhone production could be limited in the coming quarters.

Analysts also note that Apple is planning future models despite the current constraints. Leaks suggest the budget‑oriented iPhone 18e, expected around March 2027, will feature 9 GB of RAM, an upgrade from the current 8 GB, reflecting the company’s push to meet growing performance needs.

The combination of record sales, component shortages and upcoming product road‑maps highlights the challenges Apple must manage to sustain its market momentum.
