Apple Watch ECG feature alerts triathlete to heart condition
Apple has released a testimonial video highlighting how the Apple Watch ECG feature helped a triathlete named Connor identify a life-threatening heart condition. During intense training, Connor experienced a heart rate spike of approximately 219 beats per minute and used the watch's ECG app, which detected signs of atrial fibrillation.
Following the detection, medical professionals discovered a previously unknown congenital heart condition. The condition required Connor to undergo open-heart surgery. The device features used in this case are available on Apple Watch Series 4 and newer, as well as all Apple Watch Ultra models.
