Apple Watch user survives aggressive leukemia thanks to heart rate alerts
Apple has released a video featuring a user named Amanda, who credits her Apple Watch with helping her survive a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. In 2024, Amanda began receiving notifications regarding abnormal heart rate patterns, including changes in her resting heart rate and overnight vital signs.
These alerts prompted her to consult a physician, leading to the discovery of the aggressive cancer. Following medical treatment, Amanda is currently in remission. She stated, “I am absolutely convinced that without my Apple Watch, I would not be here talking to you.”
The Apple Watch includes health monitoring features such as regular heart rate checks, notifications for high or low heart rates, and an ECG app capable of detecting atrial fibrillation (AFib).
