Apple Windows Migration Assistant and Mac migration tips

Apple’s Windows Migration Assistant is a free tool designed to facilitate the transfer of data from a Windows PC to a Mac. The utility allows users to move emails, contacts, calendars, reminders, and media files such as music and movies. It also supports the migration of browser bookmarks, system settings like language preferences, and various personal documents.

While the tool handles files and settings, it does not migrate Windows applications; users must install Mac-compatible versions separately. For existing Mac users, utilizing Migration Assistant is recommended over Target Disk Mode to ensure data transfers occur at Thunderbolt speeds rather than slower USB speeds. Users are advised to use a dedicated Thunderbolt cable rather than a standard USB-C charging cable to optimize the process.
