Apple's foldable iPhone set for September 2026 launch

Apple is preparing to release its first foldable iPhone, reportedly scheduled for September 2026. The device, referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, will feature a dual‑layer ultra‑thin glass hinge to minimize crease visibility, a 5.5‑inch outer screen and a 7.8‑inch inner display with a near‑square 4:3 aspect ratio, and may include a vapor‑cooling system and an A20 processor. Three storage options are expected – 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB – with the top model priced around US$2,900.

A separate market‑depreciation analysis suggests the foldable iPhone could lose up to US$1,292 in its first year, reflecting a 64.6 % loss in value typical for foldable smartphones. The study notes that Apple’s existing iPhone 16 line retains the most value after twelve months, while Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 1 TB shows the greatest loss.
