Apple Maps gets AI‑enhanced Flyover and new features in iOS 27

Apple introduced a suite of upgrades to its Maps app in iOS 27. The Flyover 3D view now combines aerial imagery with Vision Intelligence AI, delivering finer detail for trees, building façades and glass reflections in more than 350 cities. A refreshed Liquid Glass icon adds depth to the app’s visual identity.

New functional additions include Local Lists – a privacy‑focused, U.S.–only recommendation list of nearby places, and a Trending Restaurants section that highlights popular eateries. Natural‑language search now understands commands such as “avoid toll roads” or “skip highways.” Offline Maps show more points of interest with clearer labels, and the Visited Places feature records trips more accurately while expanding to additional regions. An Apple Watch widget called Parked Car lets users quickly locate their last‑parked vehicle.

The broader iOS 27 release also upgrades Apple Mail with improved search relevance, third‑party suggestion integration, and smarter replies, while Siri AI receives significant enhancements across system apps, prompting many users to consider upgrading their iPhone hardware to fully benefit from the new AI‑centric capabilities.
