Apprentice sentenced for driving with suspended licence in Orange

Caleb Wilson, a 27-year-old apprentice, appeared in Orange Local Court after pleading guilty to driving while his licence was suspended. The suspension, which lasted from April 2 to July 1, 2026, was due to exceeding demerit points.

Police stopped Wilson on June 17, 2026, near Borenore for speeding. During the stop, Wilson admitted he did not have his licence. His solicitor, Julia Douglas Oliveira of the Aboriginal Legal Service, noted that Wilson had been leading a pro-social life and was nearing the completion of his apprenticeship in November. The court heard Wilson drove to a job in Manildra because he was concerned about the impact a licence suspension might have on his employment.
