APR launches 7.6 billion‑won government project to develop semiconductor technology for beauty devices

South Korean beauty‑tech firm APR (CEO Kim Byung‑hoon) was selected as the lead institute for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s semiconductor‑advanced‑technology development program. The four‑year project, funded with 76 billion won, will run from 2026 to 2029 and aims to internalise system‑semiconductor and control‑technology core to APR’s beauty‑device portfolio, reducing reliance on external components and creating a K‑beauty tech platform that combines semiconductor, AI and hardware.

A kick‑off meeting was held on 23 April at Lotte World Tower in Seoul with APR R&D heads, university researchers and government labs. APR plans to apply the research to home‑care and professional devices, expanding products such as the Booster Pro X2 and Booster Glow, and to integrate data from its Mediqube Age‑R app, which has already exceeded 1.5 million global downloads.
