Aprender Conectado reaches 30,000 connected public schools

The Aprender Conectado program has reached a milestone of connecting 30,000 public schools with high-speed internet. The initiative currently benefits more than 3.5 million students across over 3,300 municipalities, with a specific focus on rural, indigenous, quilombola, riverside, and socially vulnerable urban schools.

Due to the program's expansion, the initial target of approximately 40,000 schools has been increased to over 46,000 units. Flávio Santos, director-general of the Entidade Administradora da Conectividade de Escolas (Eace), stated that reaching 30,000 schools demonstrates the ability to structure a national operation capable of overcoming significant infrastructure barriers.

Connectivity is achieved through various technologies depending on local conditions: fiber optics account for 72% of connections, satellite for 21.2%, and radio for 6.1%, with the remainder using hybrid solutions or FWA. Additionally, solar power systems have been installed in 1,580 schools to ensure both connectivity and general electricity for school routines.
