AprilBio appoints Sun-jin Hwang to lead global business development

AprilBio has appointed Sun-jin Hwang as Vice President to strengthen its global business development and research and development capabilities. Hwang is a medical doctor with approximately 20 years of experience in medical affairs and drug development at major global pharmaceutical companies, including MSD, Gilead Sciences, and Amgen.

During his career, Hwang has managed various stages of drug development, from strategy formulation and clinical development to global project management and regulatory communication. Most recently, he served as the Korea Development Lead at Amgen. At Gilead Sciences, he led medical affairs strategies for the Asia region.

AprilBio intends to utilize Hwang’s expertise and professional network to expand collaboration opportunities with international pharmaceutical and biotech firms. The company aims to accelerate global partnering for its proprietary SAFA platform and existing pipelines, following previous major technology transfers to companies such as Lundbeck and Evommune.
