Aprilia intensifies MotoGP development to pursue first championship
Aprilia is intensifying its development efforts in MotoGP as the manufacturer seeks its first championship title. The team is currently managing two major technical projects simultaneously: refining the current RS-GP motorcycle to maintain competitiveness in the ongoing season and developing the new 850cc bike required for the 2027 technical regulations.
Team manager Paolo Bonora noted that the workload is exceptionally high, jokingly remarking that the team is working “eight days a week, 25 hours a day” to ensure neither project is neglected. Recent technical updates, including a new rear wing version seen at the Aragon Grand Prix, aim to improve performance while maintaining motorcycle stability for the riders.
While Aprilia has seen success with riders like Marco Bezzecchi, the team faces stiff competition from Ducati and championship leader Jorge Martin. The dual-track development strategy is intended to capitalize on the current season's opportunities without sacrificing long-term readiness for the upcoming rule changes.
