Apucarana animal cruelty cases involve mutilation and abandonment
Multiple incidents of animal cruelty have been reported in Apucarana, Brazil. A dog named Serena, who had a hind leg amputated due to human-inflicted mutilation, was rescued by a taxi driver and is now recovering at the Municipal Animal Health Center (Cemsa). Veterinary coordinator Davi Ricardo de Andrade Santana confirmed the injury was caused by a person rather than an animal fight.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested after abandoning eight puppies in Parque da Raposa. This marked the second time the suspect attempted to abandon the litter in less than a month. Local authorities and animal welfare organizations rescued the puppies, which are approximately 30 days old, and they are now available for adoption.
