Apucarana authorities warn of donation scams following severe storm

The administration of Apucarana, Brazil, has issued urgent warnings to the public regarding potential scams following a severe storm that caused significant damage in the region. Mayor Rodolfo Mota clarified that the municipal government is not requesting any money transfers, Pix payments, or bank donations to assist victims.

Authorities emphasized that no municipal representative will contact citizens to request funds. Residents are advised to be wary of social media messages containing bank accounts or Pix keys claiming to represent the victims. Instead, the mayor suggested directing aid to trusted local entities such as the OAB, local parishes, or the Jeep Club.

A legitimate mobilization is currently underway to collect physical donations. The campaign, led by Sesc Mesa Brasil and supported by various organizations including Fecomércio PR and Senac, is specifically requesting cleaning supplies and personal hygiene kits to help families reorganize their homes.
