Apucarana City Council rejects Fire Department construction extension

The Apucarana City Council has rejected a proposal from Mayor Rodolfo Mota to extend the deadline for starting construction on a new Fire Department headquarters. The project, intended for a site on Avenida Minas Gerais, faced defeat during an extraordinary session due to the absence or delay of certain council members, which allowed the opposition to seize a majority.

Councilman Pablo da Segurança expressed concern that the decision could negatively impact the Fire Department, an institution critical to the city's emergency services.

In the same session, the council approved in a second vote a bill establishing regulations for the use of self-propelled vehicles, scooters, and mopeds. The new rules aim to increase user safety by mandating the use of helmets and setting a minimum age of 16 for operators.
