Sorocaba expands community policing and elderly welfare initiatives

In Sorocaba, the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) has launched a new community base in Jardim Maria Eugênia. Located within the local sports center, the unit provides 24-hour service to enhance preventive policing and community proximity. The facility is staffed by 10 guards working in rotating shifts, including two fixed officers and a patrol vehicle. This marks the seventh community base established by the corporation in the region.

Simultaneously, several initiatives are promoting elderly welfare in the state. Sorocaba is hosting the 2026 Miss and Mister Melhor Idade contest, an event designed to boost self-esteem and social integration for senior citizens. In Apucarana, the municipality has opened registrations for the Miss and Mister Longevidade 2026 contest, which will include a new male category to celebrate the protagonism of the elderly population.

Additionally, the Municipal Council for the Elderly in Tupã has inaugurated a new board of directors. Serving until 2028, the representatives are tasked with strengthening public policies and overseeing the rights and citizenship of the elderly population.
