Apucarana council debates flood mitigation over IPTU exemption

In a municipal session on 30 July, Apucarana councilor Tiago Cordeiro opposed a proposal to waive property tax (IPTU) for residents affected by floods in the Interlagos neighbourhood. He called the measure populist, arguing that lasting solutions require planning, budgeting and drainage works, including a new link between Interlagos and Jardim Veneza. Cordeiro urged the administration to focus on structural investments rather than short‑term tax relief.

He highlighted past planning failures that left Interlagos without proper paving and drainage, and cited recent municipal announcements of drainage projects intended to address the recurring inundations.
