Apucarana renovates vaccine storage for 28 health units
The city of Apucarana has completed the renewal of scientific conservation chambers, specifically refrigerators, for all 28 Basic Health Units (UBS) equipped with vaccination rooms. The investment, totaling approximately R$ 212,915.00, was funded through municipal resources as well as transfers from federal and state governments.
The new equipment features battery backup systems providing 24 to 48 hours of autonomy. This capability proved critical during a windstorm on September 21, which caused prolonged power outages in various regions of the city; the battery life ensured that no vaccine doses were lost due to temperature fluctuations.
According to Mayor Rodolfo Mota and Health Secretary Guilherme de Paula, the modernization aims to preserve public resources and ensure the efficacy of vaccines by maintaining strict temperature requirements.
