Apucarana storms cause repeated roof damage and regional disruption
Severe storms in the Vale do Ivaí region of Paraná, Brazil, have caused significant property damage and infrastructure issues. In Apucarana, a two-story house had its roof torn off for the second time in a single week. Although the roof had been reconstructed following a storm on September 21, strong winds on Tuesday, September 29, ripped the metal structure away again, sending it into the middle of Rua Doutor Oswaldo Cruz. The debris struck a utility pole, leading to temporary road closures and power outages for residents.
The storms also impacted several other municipalities, including Bom Sucesso, Jandaia do Sul, Jardim Alegre, and Grandes Rios. Reported damages across the region include flooding, roof damage, fallen trees, and urban infrastructure destruction. On the PR-466 highway, between Lidianópolis and Jardim Alegre, a tree fell onto a moving vehicle; however, no injuries were reported in that incident or the Apucarana roof collapse.
