Italy hosts various summer outdoor cinema festivals

Various regions across Italy are hosting summer cinema festivals and cultural events. In Trani, the “Cinema Fuori Museo - Tra Cattedrale e Mare” series features classics such as Orson Welles’ “L'infernale Quinlan” and Woody Allen’s “Zelig”.

In Bologna, the “SI GIRA!” itinerant festival, curated by Cineteca di Bologna, brings free screenings to local neighborhoods like Porto-Saragozza and Santo Stefano. Meanwhile, Massafra is hosting the 21st edition of the “Vicoli Corti” festival at Parco Madre Teresa di Calcutta, featuring an international short film competition and tributes to Bernardo Bertolucci.

Other regional highlights include the “Trame urbane” project in Venice, which integrates cinema into public libraries, and the “Supercinema Estivo” in Modena, which offers themed screenings under the stars. In Lipari, local political debates have emerged regarding the economic and promotional impact of Christopher Nolan’s production presence on the island compared to other locations.
