Apure authorities hold political commemorations and launch tourism expansion plan
In Apure, Venezuela, regional authorities held a mobilization to commemorate the October 7, 2012, presidential election victory of Hugo Chávez. Governor Wilmer Rodríguez and Minister of Penitentiary Services Julio García Zerpa led the event, which aimed to reaffirm commitment to Chávez's political legacy and ideals.
Separately, Governor Rodríguez and Minister of Tourism Daniela Cabello announced a strategic alliance to expand receptive tourism across seven municipalities in Apure. The plan seeks to diversify the local economy by leveraging natural, fluvial, and cultural attractions—such as Hato El Cedral and the Médanos de La Soledad—to complement the existing livestock and agricultural sectors. This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish the ‘Marca Región Los Llanos’ in coordination with neighboring states to promote nature-based tourism.
