Apurímac mining and planning initiatives focus on community dialogue and local management

The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has initiated a dialogue process with the Pisaccasa community in the Cotabambas province of the Apurímac region. Working alongside the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the government aims to address local concerns and establish coordination mechanisms. A follow-up meeting involving vice-ministers is proposed for September 23 to ensure continuity in addressing community demands.

In a related effort to support regional development, the mining company Las Bambas and the National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN) are collaborating to strengthen local management along the Apurímac-Cusco road corridor. This partnership focuses on enhancing the capacity of municipal governments to improve territorial planning and the efficient use of resources, including mining canon funds. The initiative includes technical assistance for local authorities to better implement planning instruments and promote sustainable development through the 2027 action plan.
