Aqara launches FP400 spatial multi-sensor for smart homes
Aqara has announced the launch of the FP400, a new spatial multi-sensor designed for advanced smart home automation. Utilizing next-generation 60GHz mmWave radar technology, the device provides high-precision spatial sensing and environmental understanding without the privacy concerns associated with traditional cameras.
The FP400 can track and count up to 10 occupants simultaneously within a coverage area of approximately 80 square meters (10m x 8m). It features a 120-degree field of view and allows users to define up to eight distinct zones for localized automation, such as adjusting lighting based on a person's specific movement through a room.
To improve reliability, the sensor employs AI-driven algorithms to distinguish human presence from environmental factors like pets, airflow, or robotic vacuums. The device supports both Thread and Zigbee connectivity and is Matter-enabled for interoperability with ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. It is powered via a USB-C connection and can be mounted on walls or ceilings.
