Aquaculture innovations drive success in Vietnam

In Quang Ngai province, farmer Do Van Duoc has achieved significant financial success by transitioning from lobster farming to grouper cultivation. After identifying environmental risks and market limitations in lobster farming, Duoc pivoted to grouper, which proved more resilient to local sea conditions and required less stringent technical management. His family currently operates 17 cages, producing approximately 20 tons of grouper annually. With an average price of 200,000 VND per kg, the operation generates an estimated 4 billion VND in revenue and 1.6 billion VND in annual profit.

In Ca Mau province, entrepreneur Do Vuong Nhi has developed FarmBook: Shrimp Weighing Book, a mobile application designed to digitize the shrimp harvesting process. Developed to replace error-prone manual paper logging, the app allows farmers to manage yields, calculate payments, and record transactions directly at weighing stations. The project has gained recognition as a finalist in the Ca Mau Startup Competition 2026 (NEX 2026). The application is currently available on both the App Store and Google Play.
