Aquapark Reda introduces new sharks following July incident
New blacktip reef sharks have arrived at the Aquapark in Reda, Poland, marking the return of a signature attraction following a major technical failure in July. The incident, which occurred on July 26, involved a sodium hypochlorite leak during water treatment work, leading to a dangerous chemical reaction and the evacuation of approximately 400 people.
While no guests were injured during the evacuation, the chemical release proved fatal for the sharks living in the facility's tanks. Following the tragedy, the facility management conducted technical audits and safety procedure reviews. The new sharks are currently undergoing an acclimatization period and will soon be released into the main tank, allowing visitors to once again experience the attraction of sliding through a tunnel surrounded by marine life.
