Aquariums and nature education activities in the Netherlands
Various aquatic and wildlife attractions and educational activities are available across the Netherlands. Facilities such as the Schildpaddencentrum in Alphen aan de Rijn serve as rescue centers for land and marsh turtles, while Ecomare on Texel offers insights into marine life.
Other notable locations include the Zee Aquarium in Bergen aan Zee, which houses over 366 fish species, and the Muzeeaquarium in Delfzijl, located in a World War II bunker. The latter combines marine life displays with archaeological and geological collections, including fossils and a large shell collection.
In Dalfsen, the sustainability association Groen Gebogen organized an educational event at a local pond. Led by volunteers, children and families participated in searching for various water creatures, such as snails, water scorpions, and salamanders, to learn about aquatic biology and survival.
