Aquila Catamarans launches 50-foot sailcat; John Pollard clinches SB20 UK title

Aquila Catamarans introduced its first sailing catamaran, the 50‑foot Aquila 50. The vessel offers up to six ensuite cabins, a spacious salon and galley, and extensive storage, reflecting the company’s aim to balance power‑cat and sail‑cat production within four to five years. Chief revenue officer Nick Harvey said, "All of us at Aquila used to be sailors," emphasizing the brand’s return to its sailing roots.

The 2026 Rovika SB20 UK Nationals and Open Championships were held at the Royal London Yacht Club in Cowes, drawing 31 teams from the UK, Australia, France, Belgium and Singapore. Reigning UK champion John Pollard and his crew on the boat "XCELLENT" won six of eight races, securing both the UK and Open titles ahead of Nils Razmilovic’s Glasgow Kiss and Australia’s Paul McCartney. The winning team now turns its focus to defending the SB20 World Championship in Hyères, France.
