Italy hosts Roman reenactment and historic cycling race

Italy is hosting two significant local cultural and sporting events this weekend. In Aquileia, the third edition of ‘Aquileia Splendida Civitas’ will take place on September 26 and 27. This historical reenactment aims to recreate life in the Roman Empire during the 4th and 5th centuries. The event, organized by Fondazione Aquileia in collaboration with local authorities, features Roman camps, gladiator demonstrations, ancient crafts, and military maneuvers showcasing 4th-century combat tactics.

In Ceglie Messapica, the 66th edition of the ‘Coppa Messapica’ cycling race is scheduled for Sunday, September 27. Established in 1952, this amateur cycling competition has served as a training ground for numerous professional riders. This year’s event will include participants from across Italy, including the Ukrainian national team, and will feature community activities for families prior to the race.
