Aquileia Mayor visits Guizhou to discuss cultural heritage
Emanuele Zorino, the mayor of Aquileia, recently visited the Chishui River region in China's Guizhou province to observe the relationship between cultural heritage and regional development.
During his visit to Maotai, a town famous for producing baijiu, a traditional Chinese grain distillate, Zorino noted the similarities between the local Chinese economy and rural Italian communities. He highlighted how the local population maintains a deep knowledge and passion for their traditional products, which he compared to the attachment found in Italian rural areas.
Aquileia, an ancient Roman commercial hub in northeastern Italy, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its archaeological area and Patriarchal Basilica.
