The electronic bracelet had been imposed as a precautionary measure in a separate investigation known as 'Triple A,' which involves the illegal distribution and sale of fuel. Authorities reported that the device recorded over 2,000 alerts, including disconnections and signals of potential removal, during the period he was under surveillance.

In addition to the prison term, the court confirmed a fine equivalent to ten unified basic salaries. The ruling also includes requirements for integral reparation, such as public apologies. Alvarez’s defense has indicated they may appeal the decision to the National Court of Justice. This conviction follows a previous sentence of six years and eight months for illegal fuel trafficking.
