Aqvital Baby fails Hungarian mineral content regulations

The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has conducted testing on Hungarian-produced baby waters as part of its ‘Szupermenta’ product test program. While all five tested products met food safety standards and showed no microbiological contamination, one product failed to meet specific regulatory requirements.

Aqvital Baby was found to have a total mineral content of 707 mg/l, exceeding the maximum limit of 650 mg/l established by Hungarian regulations. Consequently, the product cannot be marketed as a natural mineral water suitable for preparing infant formula. Authorities have initiated proceedings regarding the affected product.

Because baby water regulations are not standardized at the EU level, several member states, including Hungary, have established their own national criteria for the ‘suitable for infant formula preparation’ label. The testing included microbiological analysis and checks for total mineral content and other characteristic natural components.
