ARA Flugrettung celebrates 25 years of air rescue services

ARA Flugrettung celebrated its 25th anniversary with a commemorative event at Nassfeld, featuring a helicopter blessing and demonstration flights including winch rescues. The organization operates three stations in Fresach, Nassfeld, and Reutte, conducting approximately 1,150 missions annually from its Carinthian locations alone.

Since 2019, the service has expanded to include night flights and was the first air rescue company in Austria to perform nighttime winch rescues. To further modernize operations, the company is implementing a digital emergency physician protocol, which will allow medical data to be transmitted more rapidly to receiving hospitals.

Carinthian health officials Beate Prettner and Peter Reichmann attended the anniversary, describing the air rescue service as an indispensable component of the region's emergency medical care. The ARA operates in a joint venture with ÖAMTC and is part of the DRF Group.
