Arab and Muslim nations demand Palestinian statehood for peace

A group of eight Arab and Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia, issued a joint statement on September 6, 2026, reaffirming that the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state is a prerequisite for peace with Israel.

The ministers expressed absolute rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, whether through force or by creating conditions that compel emigration. They warned that such actions would violate international law and undermine political settlement prospects. The group emphasized that Palestinian national rights, specifically the right to self-determination, cannot be revoked.

The statement advocates for a two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as the capital, in alignment with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
