Arab Bureau of Education and OECD discuss learning outcomes in Riyadh

The Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, in collaboration with the OECD, held a high-level regional dialogue in Riyadh to discuss improving student learning outcomes in the Gulf, Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) regions. The forum focused on insights derived from the PISA 2025 study results.

Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Muqbil, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education, emphasized that international assessments should serve as cognitive tools to understand educational realities and drive policy improvements. He noted that enhancing learning outcomes requires a continuous path of development involving curricula, teacher performance, assessment methods, and the involvement of families and society.

Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the OECD, presented key indicators from the PISA 2025 study, highlighting implications for educational practices and student readiness for the future. Discussions also covered scientific thinking, science education, digital learning, and the impact of artificial intelligence on academic performance.
