Arab judicial inspection heads meet in Oman to discuss AI and oversight

The 30th meeting of the heads of judicial inspection bodies in Arab countries is being held in Salalah, Oman, hosted by the Supreme Judicial Council and supervised by the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research of the Arab League. The two-day summit involves representatives from 14 countries, including Yemen and Syria.

Key discussions focus on transitioning from traditional oversight to preventative inspection systems and utilizing modern technology. Participants are exploring the integration of artificial intelligence to analyze judicial rulings, manage large datasets, and improve the quality of legal work. The meeting also addresses challenges such as algorithmic bias and the protection of judicial file confidentiality.

Proposed initiatives include the creation of a unified Arab model for evaluating the quality of judicial rulings and a digital platform to facilitate the exchange of expertise and guiding manuals among Arab nations. Syria specifically presented its experience in establishing a central complaints room and implementing digital tools for measuring judicial efficiency and professional commitment.
