Arab League Secretary-General meets UK Middle East Minister

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, met with British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Stephen Dowatt, to discuss regional and international developments.

During the meeting, Fahmy praised the United Kingdom’s recent recognition of the State of Palestine. He called for more decisive British political action to halt Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, ensure an Israeli withdrawal, and facilitate the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to support a two-state solution.

The discussions also addressed security in the Arabian Gulf. Fahmy expressed the League’s condemnation of Iranian attacks on civilian and vital facilities in Gulf nations, emphasizing that the security of Arab states is indivisible and that sovereignty must be respected. He further stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in international maritime corridors to protect regional stability and global energy markets.

Additionally, the two sides reviewed the situations in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Yemen, advocating for the preservation of national sovereignty and political solutions to end conflicts in those regions.
